The 2011 EU Sustainable Energy Week, organized by the Executive Agency for Competitiveness & Innovation (EACI) on behalf of the European Commission, will include some 500 events in Brussels and across Europe and will take place from 11th - 15th April.
An important element of this week will be the presentation of the prestigious "Sustainable Energy Europe Awards" which reward outstanding renewable energy or energy efficiency projects with a high replication potential and impact.
The award ceremony will take place on 12th April in the Théâtre du Vaudeville in the centre of Brussels. Some 150 guests are expected, including Commissioner for Energy, Günter Oettinger. The awards to the winners will be presented by Commissioner Oettinger and Maria da Graça Carvalho.
In addition to Ms Carvalho, the Award Jury will be composed of four recognised sustainable energy experts: Dr Brenda Boardman (Emeritus Fellow: Energy, Environmental Change Institute, University of Oxford); Ms Annick Delhaye (Vice-president of Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, Vice-president for Energy Efficiency of Fedarene); Ms Jennifer Rankin (Reporter, European Voice) and Mr Harry Verhaar (Sr. Director Energy & Climate Change, Head of Strategic Sustainability Initiatives, Philips Lighting).
